THANK YOU TO ALL OUR SUPPORTERS

Thank you to everyone who took part in, fundraised for, or donated to, the Aware Christmas 5K. This was our first time to hold it as a virtual event and we are so grateful for the nationwide support!

We had lots of people share their photos across social media, tagging us to show us their photos. We had participants from every generation and we even had some four-legged friends too. We are very grateful to each and everyone one you, thank you.

We have already posted out some medals over the weekend and we continue to post them out this week. For those of you who registered after 9th December, it may be mid-late January before they arrive in your post box, as due to the fantastic response, we had to order an additional batch of custom medals. We will get them out to you as soon as possible!

There is no obligation to, but if you would like to record your time for the Aware Christmas 5K, please click below.

Why take part?

An opportunity to be part of  something fun, festive & healthy.

It’s good for your body and good for your mind - fresh air, nature and movement all offer a host of benefits for your mental wellbeing.

It’s fun. Pull out the Christmas jumper, add some festive accessories and enjoy the feel good factor of doing something uplifting.

You can make a real difference in the lives of others.

We have seen a dramatic increase in demand for our services since March, including a 60% increase in calls to our Support Line.

Your participation will help ensure we can continue to provide vital, free services for individuals and families impacted by depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder.

At a time when we need to stay apart, it is important that we still feel connected to one another. Join people all over Ireland and come together ‘virtually’ to take on a 5K challenge in support of mental health.

All participants receive a custom medal that doubles as a Christmas tree decoration.

There has been a fantastic response to the Aware Christmas 5K already, thank you to everyone who is getting involved. We are in the grateful position of having more people signed up than expected and so we had to place a second order for our bespoke medals. As soon as they arrive from our supplier, they will be despatched, but for those of you who registered after 9th December, it may be mid-late January before they arrive in your post box. We will get them out to you as soon as possible! Thank you for supporting Aware and we look forward to seeing all your photos on social media with #AwareChristmas5K.

We need your help now, more than ever

Covid-19 has affected all aspects of our lives and its impact on mental health illustrates how profoundly mental health is shaped by the everyday conditions in which we live. People with pre-existing mental health conditions like depression are particularly vulnerable, but we are also seeing many people develop mental health difficulties for the first time.

The pandemic has impacted Aware's fundraising income this year. It’s time to prioritise mental health and we need your support to ensure we can be there for everyone who needs us. Every euro counts.

Together, we can make a difference.

How does it work?

Calling all dashers, dancers and prancers...

The Aware Christmas 5k is taking place from Fri-Sun, 11th - 13th December 2020. As we are going virtual this year, you do not need to travel anywhere to take part.

Pick a 5k route close to home.

Whether you are a seasoned runner or enjoy a leisurely walk, this 5k is for you.

You can do laps of your garden, up and down the road, around the block. You can start from your own front door. You can go alone, with your household, with the dog, it's up to you.

Go in your thermals or Santa hat, it's 5k your way!

It doesn’t matter what level of fitness you have. You can walk, jog or run the 5km distance.

All you need to do now is register, get moving and of course take on the 5k safely, abiding by social distancing and Covid-19 guidelines.

Don't forget to spread the word and encourage your family and friends to get involved and use #awarechristmas5k on social media.

If you have completed your 5K, and would like to submit a record of your time, click below.
